Overview

ARDMonitor shows the state of Apple Remote Desktop (disabled, enabled, connected) - even if the Administrator asked for permission to monitor/control (that's what ARD's menu extra doesn't).

ARDMonitor comes in two flavours:

  • "ARDMonitor" - The normal faceless program which will show an icon on the right side of the menu bar.
  • "ARDMonitor unquittable" - The same as the above, but it lacks the option to quit the program - maybe useful if you're dealing with lusers.

Features

  • status menu item
  • Notifications[1]
  • displays your IP- and MAC-addresses, computer name and serial number[2]
  • disconnect administrators (not with AppStore[3]-Version, also does only work if the Administrator did ask for permission to control[4])

  • Mac OS X 10.7 "Lion" or later[5]
  • PPC or Intel CPU (Universal Binary)

There is also a version in Apple's AppStore available, but that one lacks capability to disconnect administrators due to because of the Sandboxing-Restrictions... (see here).

Help

  1. required Mac OS X 10.8 or higher
  2. new with 1.9
  3. Sandboxing sucks!
  4. since ARD Admin will reconnect as soon as the connection breaks, it will not work if ARD Admin knows Login/Password to (re-)connect
  5. including Mac OS X 10.7, 10.8, 10.9 Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks)
