This is, how I tried to set up ownCloud calendar before, and did not work. If you are interested in the solution, see this.

  • Don't add a subscription - that cannot work, since it's not syncing, but only downloading instead:
    OwnCloudCalendarNotWorking01.png

You have to to use CalDAV.
